Highly Experienced Eye Doctors
Our eye doctors have all been carefully selected to work at Eye Institute because of the vast experience they have in their specialist fields. This allows Eye Institute to offer you a wide range of eye surgery procedures, while giving you the benefits of each eye doctor’s specialised knowledge and experience.
Pioneering eye doctors
The eye doctors at Eye Institute are passionate about continually refining and perfecting eye surgery techniques, and many of them have been responsible for pioneering advancements in eye surgery. Our eye doctors first began practicing laser eye surgery in NZ in 1992, and have contributed to the development of innovative no-stitch cataract surgery techniques.
Our eye doctors are also heavily involved in research, and frequently present their findings at conferences and events attended by ophthalmologists from around the world.
Their passion for bringing the latest eye surgery techniques to patients in New Zealand leads them to regularly attend the annual American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons conference in the US. This significant investment is one that our eye doctors strongly believe is worthwhile, in order to learn about the most advanced developments in eye surgery.
Training future ophthalmologists
Many of the eye doctors at Eye Institute also hold positions as senior lecturers and examiners at the country’s top universities, where they play an active role in educating the ophthalmologists of the future.
Frequent seminars run by Eye Institute, as well as Eye Institute’s own annual ophthalmology conference, are attended by optometrists and final year students from across NZ. Here, our eye doctors present their own research papers and discuss the latest developments in eye surgery and care.
Eye Institute also operates a unique Optometry Education Programme for optometrists, giving eye care professionals across NZ the chance to train with our eye doctors, and accumulate CPD points while doing so.
