iLASIK with Intralase iFS:
The most advanced LASIK in the world is here

Make sure you benefit from the speed, precision and safety of the world’s most advanced LASIK technology, by choosing iLASIK at Eye Institute for your laser eye surgery.

Eye Institute has always been at the forefront of laser eye surgery in Australasia. Our surgeons were the first to introduce laser eye surgery to New Zealand in 1992, three years ahead of our nearest competitors. Since then we’ve continued to lead the field with unequalled investments in the newest LASIK technology.

iLASIK – the new LASIK

Intralase iFS iLASIK combines the world’s two most advanced LASIK technologies into one safe, efficient and highly effective procedure. This unique procedure is the only LASIK trusted by both NASA and the US military for its elite personnel. And Eye Institute is the only clinic in New Zealand where you can get it.

World’s most advanced IntraLase

iFSThe IntraLase is the first of two lasers in the iLASIK procedure, and replaces the traditional blade or ‘microkeratome’ to create a flap in the cornea (the surface of the eye).

Eye Institute first introduced the IntraLase to NZ in 2006, and have since upgraded to the newest IntraLase iFS 5th Generation laser – a breakthrough in speed, precision and safety.

Benefits of the new IntraLase iFS:

Three times faster than its predecessor, the new IntraLase iFS reduces flap creation time from 30 seconds to less than 10 seconds. That means less suction time on the eye for a faster, safer, more comfortable procedure.

The reverse entry angle used by the IntraLase iFS is far superior to the previous 4th generation laser. The strength of the cornea and flap are better maintained, for a safer operation and improved healing.

The IntraLase iFS can create highly personalised flaps, meaning many previously untreatable patients, such as those with astigmatism and thinner corneas, may now be able to enjoy the life-changing benefits of LASIK surgery.

Advanced CustomVue technology

The second part of the iLASIK procedure is the laser vision correction itself. iLASIK uses Advanced CustomVue technology to treat the widest range of vision problems possible, including:

  • Short sightedness (myopia) up to -10 diopters
  • Long sightedness (hyperopia) up to +5 diopters
  • Astigmatism to -5 diopters

Benefits of Advanced CustomVue technology:

Using measurements 25 times more precise than standard measurements for glasses and contact lenses, the Advanced CustomVue laser is computer-guided in a customised treatment that is totally unique to each eye.

The Advanced CustomVue features the most advanced eye tracking in NZ. The laser automatically reacts to tiny movements of the eye during surgery, literally locking on to the eye for ultimate precision.

By customising the laser pulse rate and strength for different areas of the eye, the Advanced CustomVue laser helps protect the surrounding eye tissue, for a much safer procedure.
